Wedding jewellery inspiration | 10 sustainable bridal jewellery trends for 2023

Are you planning to have a beautiful summer, autumn or winter wedding this year? In that case, you’ll want to find the perfect jewellery pieces for your perfect day. To make the task of picking your wedding jewellery a bit easier and lighter, we are breaking down the bridal jewellery trends for the year of 2023 in today’s post. While we are a slow jewellery brand, which means we always encourage you to choose your jewellery consciously and opt for timeless pieces that you can enjoy for the longest possible time rather than following trends only, we do find it interesting to observe the newest preferences in jewellery, as we believe all trends can be given a classic and timeless touch in order to integrate them in a slow, sustainable lifestyle. So, let’s dive in and get inspired, shall we?

Minimalistic, elegant bridal jewellery

This year, we will see a lot of brides choosing minimalistic, elegant bridal jewellery, opting for more delicate sets. This applies especially to the daytime part of the wedding. The daintier, the better! Like our beautifully subtle Pebble Stud earrings, which make the perfect delicate jewellery choice for during the daytime.

Bold statement earrings for during the (after)party

Despite the minimalistic jewellery trend for the daytime, this year there will also be a tendency to wear bold, statement earrings for during the nighttime part of the wedding: the (after)party. As this part of the wedding revolves around celebration and fun, you may want to add a daring, empowering touch to your look with a pair of eye-catching earrings. However, bold and sophisticated definitely do not have to exclude one another: our gorgeous Ebb Tide earrings for example, or our Dangling Swirling Wind earrings, are the best of both worlds.

Mixed metal jewellery combinations

Another important bridal jewellery trend we have spotted this year is the mixing of different metals when it comes to jewellery combinations. Traditionally, you would wear jewellery pieces of the same metal only, so either silver all the way, or gold all the way – but over the last few years, we have seen a shift in this, as this rule is gradually being released. More and more we see jewellery pieces of different metals being combined, and this applies to wedding jewellery sets, too. So, do not be afraid to mix and match golden and silver pieces of (bridal) jewellery this year. To make sure your wedding jewellery ensemble still looks coherent, you can opt for a matching set, but with pieces in different metals; our Singö earrings in matte gold together with our Singö necklace in matte silver, for example.

Layering necklaces

Speaking of necklaces, another bridal jewellery trend is on the rise this year: layering necklaces. In order to create this bridal look, you simply choose several necklaces of different lengths and layer them on top of one another. Ideally, to ensure the look is still elegant and not too over the top, we would go for no more than two to three necklaces. You could combine a minimalistic necklace, like our Tiny Heart necklace, with a pendant necklace, such as our Dancing Waves necklace for a harmonious balance. With these guidelines, you can create your own ideal combination.

Sustainable & ethical bridal jewellery

To be clear: sustainability and ethics are not a trend to us. We believe all jewellery should be made ethically and sustainably, always, and this is a responsibility we take very seriously. Yet, sustainable and ethical jewellery is becoming a more and more popular choice among brides this year. We are only delighted about this development, and we are sure it’s here to stay!

Nature-inspired wedding jewellery designs

Fitting in with sustainable wedding jewellery choices becoming increasingly popular, nature-inspired designs are also trending this year. At Julia Otilia, all of our bridal jewellery designs are inspired by the beauty of nature. Our Swirling Wind bangle bracelet for example is inspired by the graceful, twirling movements of wind – and it make the perfect elegant, classic, nature-inspired bridal bracelet.

Bespoke wedding jewellery

Lately, more and more brides are choosing handcrafted jewellery for their wedding, because they wish to wear something truly unique and authentic. We understand this: all of Julia Otilia’s jewellery is handmade, piece by piece. We also craft custom jewellery designs on request; feel free to contact us to discover the possibilities.

Pearls

Pearls are a classic element that never really goes out of style, but this year in particular they are experiencing a revival as they are a preferred choice for wedding jewellery. Combine our Pearl creole earrings and Pure Pearl necklace for a dreamy wedding look. Our fairtrade sweet water pearls will match your wedding dress effortlessly!

Vintage elements

Timeless, vintage-inspired jewellery is the favoured choice for this year’s brides. This applies to jewellery shapes but also to the looks of the metals; brushed, matte jewellery pieces like our matte silver Singö studs have a beautiful romantic and vintage feel to them.

Self-expression & personal style

Self-expression and personal style are more important than ever when it comes to picking your wedding jewellery this year: it’s all about creativity and showing who you are through your jewellery. Your jewellery can tell a story about you, or maybe about you and your partner, through symbolism, shape and style. In the end, what matters most of all is that you choose jewellery that feels like it is made just for you, and that you will make you feel radiant on your special day (and long after!).
