Designer and philosophy

Jewellery designer Julia Otilia believes that by doing what is given by heart, you can truly behold the subtle gifts of life.
Her passion lays in capturing the fine details of nature. The silence of a mirror blank lake. The twirling dance of a falling leaf. Or the gentleness of an unfolding flower. It is these delicate, precious moments Julia is wishing to express in her jewellery. This is her source of inspiration.
Born in Sweden, Julia spent her childhood strolling through the deep forests and exploring the islands of the archipelago with its raw and untouched beauty. This is reflected in all her designs. With a fine and simple touch she expresses the delicate elements of nature in Scandinavian minimalistic design.
From a young age, she tasted the spirit of traveling and this joy never ceased. During her long journeys, special people from many cultures came on her path and made her discover the most beautiful organic materials. Natural pearls from small family farms, carefully selected seeds and nuts from the Himalayas and certified wood from Indonesia. Combined with elegant details in silver and gold, they become unique pieces of ethical and sustainable jewellery.
A lover of details, Julia creates fine and feminine jewellery collections, dedicated to women choosing a life of love, awareness and a pure heart.
During the year of 2020 Julia made the decision to bring the jewellery production from Bali to Europe, with the intention to align it even more with her sustainable philosophy. The production was always fair and based on ethical principles but now it’s also made locally and with locally recycled silver and gold in both Utrecht, The Netherlands and in Auvergne, France.
Natural lines in design, pure sources of raw materials and fair, local production. Altogether it completes the vision of creating conscious jewellery in alignment with nature. Because only by doing good, we can find the featherlight softness in our hearts. And see not only the beauty around us, but also within.
Materials

Wild harvest seeds & nuts
Naturally sourced high frequency holy seeds from Indonesia, Brazil and Nepal.
Wild harvest nuts from the Himalayas and from the Amazon of Ecuador and Brazil.
Certified wood
The wood we use for both delicate pendants and for some of our bangle bracelets is certified and has its origin in Indonesia. We are grateful to be working with a very talented local woodturner who makes absolute magic with the wood.
Gold plated | Gold filled
The gold we use to plate our jewellery pendants is of 14K and is three micron thick, which makes it long-lasting. The base is always pure sterling silver and it’s applied in Amsterdam.
Our golden necklace chains are 14K gold filled, meaning a strong layer of real gold is melted into a base cord of brass.
Packaging
We have two elegant Julia Otilia gift wrapping options. The first is made in recycled paper and the second in locally recycled oak and walnut wood. Let us know in the order notes or in a message which has your preference.
Giving back
Inspired by nature and with love for nature.
For every order we receive we plant one tree through the non profit organization OneTreePlanted. The tree planting project are spread around the globe and is always prioroticed to where it’s needed the most in the present moment.
Every one of your orders has a loving impact.

Work process

Each one of our sustainable and ethical jewellery pieces is designed by Julia Otilia and made by hand in Utrecht, The Netherlands and in the central part of France. In September 2023 we moved into a dreamy Château among the hills of Auvergne where we now have our main Atelier and our Julia Otilia Design Studio. If you are ever in the region, we would love welcome you!
