We find it very important that our pieces are of the highest, long-lasting quality. This is not only reflected by our making process, as we make every single piece by hand with as much care and love as possible, but also by our choice of materials: Julia Otilia works with solid gold, sterling silver and only the best quality of gold plating. These natural and strong materials ensure that you can enjoy the pieces for a long time to come. By designing high-quality pieces, we hope to inspire you to wear our jewellery as long as possible, rather than regularly buying low-quality items that don’t last. Not only is this kinder to the environment, but it also makes our jewellery a little more special.
Local and ethical production
We have recently moved our production to the Netherlands, meaning that the full making process takes place locally: Julia designs and crafts every piece by hand in her studio in Utrecht. While moving our production to the Netherlands could be considered as a bold move, seeing as it’s more time consuming, we found that this choice is more aligned with our sustainability values and slow fashion philosophy. Designing and crafting every piece close to home saves an immense amount of carbon emissions, as your purchase doesn’t have to shipped from a far away country. Furthermore, this way we can guarantee you that every single piece was made under fair and ethical working conditions.
Timeless and unique designs
At Julia Otilia, we intend to design timeless and unique pieces of jewellery that you will hopelessly fall in love with over and over again. Rather than creating trendy pieces that you’ll get bored with and want to replace in no time, opting for timeless and classic, yet special designs is our way of inspiring you to take the time to enjoy your most cherished jewellery pieces and allow them to become a part of your life. This, among other things, is what distinguishes Julia Otilia from lower-quality, more trend-minded jewellery brands: instead of promoting overconsumption, we want to encourage presence and true, timeless enjoyment.
Repair and repolish service
Even though our jewellery pieces are of the highest possible quality, after wearing them for a long time you may want to freshen them up a bit. You are more than welcome to make an appointment at our studio if your favorite jewellery piece needs repairing or repolishing. We can even arrange for our Amsterdam-based partner to give your pieces a full new gold plating. We would love to help you!
